When’s The Last Time You Bought A New Lionel Train?
I remember buying my very first train set a couple of years back ( a new Lionel Polar Express train set). I just fell in love with the intricate details the first time I laid my hands on it.
Every time that I stare at it now, the reverence that I felt for the Lionel train when it arrived at our doorstep is brought to life. Since it is the first ever train set I bought, it holds a special place in my heart (and my shelf as well) and I maintain it like it was my own child.
Now, I have bought several new Lionel train sets along the way, but the Polar Express remains the dearest to me. I have in fact bought every add-on that I could find on eBay for this baby, and it the years that pass, my favorite Lionel train model remains untarnished and new to my eyes.

How Do You Determine A Lionel Trains Price?
Wondering what the price range is for Lionel trains nowadays? As with most collectors' items, it depends on how old the set is, whether it is in good condition, and a variety of other factors that determine the Lionel trains price.
So whether you are an individual on the look out for old, vintage or post war Lionel trains to add to your collection, or someone who likes to sell sets that you own, it is important that you have at least a little knowledge on what it is valued at in the market today.
A Lionel trains price can go up and down with the market's supply and demand, but some rare items keep their high prices going.
A rare Lionel train set can go for as high as several thousand dollars, even more if it is a vintage in mint condition. I even saw a rare set box which is being offered at $15,000. Yep. You read that right. Fifteen thousand bucks for a rare box set.

Everybody and their mother know that Lionel trains are really popular... so finding Lionel trains for sale can sometimes be challenging.
Why, you ask? Well, look at it this way: you have just heard about an incredible Lionel trains sale in your city's favorite model trains shop. But due to many reasons you cannot go there before saturday, which is 2 days away... when you finally make it to the store, you realize that most of the the great Lionel trains for sale are already sold... and that the engine or accessory you were trying to get is already sold... what a bummer!

Its incredible what a discount you can find on used Lionel trains sets but that are still in mint condition. Quite a number of them still come in their original packaging. These used Lonel trains were produced in the 70s and 80s.
However, used Lionel trains are not limited to the MPC era, you can sometimes find very recent models available for a dirt cheap price.
